Téllez Goes 5-7 Friday, April 9th, 2066 On top of the Long Beach hit parade today was Júlio Téllez. He went to the plate 7 times and marched away with 5 hits, sparking the Mavericks to a 17-4 victory over the Yonkers Koalas. The sweet swinging catcher told reporters, "Each time I went to the plate, I was thinking about hitting the ball hard somewhere. When I focus on that, I usually have quality at-bats." The skipper of the Koalas wailed to the press, "Too much plate. Not the way we planned it. Any hitter in the league will rip you when you do that." Júlio Téllez hit an RBI single in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, hit an RBI double in the 3rd, struck out in the 4th, doubled in the 6th, singled in the 7th and grounded out in the 8th. Téllez is hitting .423 this season with no home runs, 3 RBIs and 11 runs scored. He has 11 hits in 26 at-bats. |
