Widmer 5-5 for Wichita Sunday, May 30th, 2066 History in the making. That's what the fans at Ballpark of Chula Vista got to see today, when Wichita outplayed the Torment 12-5. Ron Widmer of the Bluebirds came to the plate 5 times and came away with a dynamite day as he exploded for 5 hits against Chula Vista. In the postgame press conference the Chula Vista skipper quipped to reporters, "Hey, we tried to get him out. We threw everything but the kitchen sink against him and he hit it. Maybe we should've thrown the kitchen sink." Ron Widmer walked in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, tripled in the 8th and singled in the 9th. So far this year, Widmer is batting .243 with no home runs and 12 RBIs. |
