Vázquez Cracks 5 Hits Friday, July 30th, 2066 Players get multihit games all the time. But a 5-hit game comes around only once in a blue moon. It happened at Porcupines Ballpark when António Vázquez of Lexington scattered 5 hits all over the ballpark against the Saint Paul Porcupines. He walloped 5 hits in 5 at-bats in his career-day performance to help the Diamonds get by the Porcupines 10-2. In a talkative and jovial mood after the game, the left fielder of the Diamonds said, "Whoa, my swing was really, really there today. I made some good, sweet-spot contact and when that happens... good things happen... like 5-5. I could get used to a lot of days like this one." António Vázquez singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit a two-run double in the 5th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th. Vázquez is batting .344 this year with 18 home runs, 79 RBIs and 61 runs scored. He has 155 hits in 451 at-bats. |
