Meléndez Belts 5 Hits Monday, July 26th, 2066 It wasn't just another day at the ballpark for Roberto Meléndez of the Las Vegas 51s. Meléndez went on a tear at Ballpark of Saint Petersburg and cracked hit after hit off Tampa pitching. When the dust settled on the diamond, the 26-year-old catcher had a career 5-5 day and something he will long remember. "Yeah, it'll be something nice to tell the grandkids, but I don't think I'll tell 'em we lost," he joked in the BNN postgame interview. Meléndez got the accolades today, but the Tampa Artillery walked off the field with a 9-7 win. Roberto Meléndez hit an RBI single in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, doubled in the 6th, singled in the 8th and singled in the 9th. To date, Meléndez has collected 91 hits for a .290 average. He has posted 6 home runs, scored 50 runs and driven in 48 runs. |
