26-Game Streak Ends, Salinas Hitless Tuesday, May 25th, 2066 The Phillips Black Hawks won the game 6-0 over the Birmingham Rockers. At the same time the Rockers mound corps did what no other team could do. They stopped the 26-game hitting streak of Black Hawks right fielder Fernando Salinas. But that was still not enough to win the game. "Our pitchers might have focused a bit too much on stopping Salinas," the Birmingham manager commented afterward. "He had a nice hitting streak going, but the Black Hawks have other hitters, and they did their job today." This year Salinas has batted at a .323 pace with 74 hits, 1 home run, 23 RBIs and scored 40 times. |
