Hit Parade: Gilbert Pops 5 Hits
Friday, September 10th, 2066
5 times is a charm -- at least in the world of baseball. When a player gets 5 or more hits in a game, he is honored in the record book and the latest honoree is Ken Gilbert of the Cleveland Indians. He tore up the Detroit Tigers to the tune of 5 hits in 6 at-bats in the Cleveland 18-0 win today at Comerica Park. "Gilbert was a tough out today," the Detroit manager said to the press in the postgame interview. "He hit some very good pitches with that quick bat of his. Not an easy out, that's for sure." Ken Gilbert hit a three-run home run off Valentín Torres in the 1st, struck out in the 3rd, hit an RBI double in the 4th, doubled in the 6th, doubled in the 8th and singled in the 9th.
This year Gilbert has hit at a .300 clip with 97 RBIs, 27 home runs and 77 runs scored.
